Questions from the Field: Drysuit Gaskets

Q: I picked up a Kokatat drysuit... now help with the gaskets before I die!

A: Congrats, Graham!!! As for the gaskets, one word: Scissors. Don't be scared. They're meant to be cut down to fit, and that latex is stronger than you can imagine. Just take off 1/4" at at time or whatever you think you'll need. The gasket is ultimately covered by the cuffs and collar anyway... it doesn't need to be suicidally tight! Just a comfy, snug fit and you're good to go. With the cuts, be careful not to leave any nicks behind and you'll be good to go for years. And when it does come time to replace a gasket (mine is 6 years old now with probably 750 days on the water, and I'm still on my original gaskets) that's not rocket science either. We've done Heathers and helped with others... it's easy.

See you on the water, bro. Brandon

Happy and Warm Paddling!!!
Heather, Brandon and Hayden
